Implica movimientos corporales diferentes que se producen simult\u00e1neamente y de forma continua, lo que lo convierte en una de las formas de actividad m\u00e1s singulares que existen. Como sabemos, los m\u00fasculos no s\u00f3lo proporcionan fuerza, sino que mejoran nuestra capacidad para manejarnos de forma independiente. La masa muscular se pierde a medida que envejecemos (hasta un 30% a los 60 a\u00f1os). Esta p\u00e9rdida se denomina <em>sarcopenia<\/em>. Las fibras musculares disminuyen en tama\u00f1o y n\u00famero y son sustituidas por tejido adiposo y, a menudo, por adherencias resultantes de lesiones anteriores.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nuestra fascia es una red tridimensional de tejido conjuntivo (el <em>tejido blanco<\/em> de la imagen) que rodea todo nuestro sistema muscular, incluida la cabeza. Esta red fascial funciona como un <em>amortiguador<\/em>, impidiendo que fuerzas externas desgarren o da\u00f1en nuestros m\u00fasculos. Tambi\u00e9n es un <em>moldeador<\/em>, ya que tiene fibras el\u00e1sticas capaces de alargarse y contraerse con nuestros movimientos.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u00bfQu\u00e9 relaci\u00f3n tiene esto con nuestro Tai Chi?<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El Tai Chi implica cambios repetidos en la sustentaci\u00f3n del peso cada vez que cambiamos de direcci\u00f3n. El movimiento continuo hacia delante, hacia atr\u00e1s y de lado a lado permite que la fascia se expanda y se contraiga, <em>cambiando de forma<\/em> en la direcci\u00f3n que queremos que tomen los m\u00fasculos subyacentes.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La gravedad es lo que nos ofrece resistencia en el Tai Chi, en lugar de las pesas, como ocurre al levantar con frecuencia los brazos sin apoyo. Se ha comprobado que esta acci\u00f3n aumenta la fuerza de la parte superior del cuerpo, el tronco y la espalda Tambi\u00e9n se observa una mayor fuerza en las piernas, especialmente en las rodillas cuando se eval\u00faa la capacidad de sentarse y levantarse.
