I used the tai chi in my toolbox today. I was very nervous prior to a dentist appointment so I found a quiet sitting area just outside the dentists office. I proceeded to do several standing jongs and danyu’s, keeping in mind that this would invoke the parasympathetic nervous system and calm me. It worked! -along with some slow deep breathing.

This website provides a wonderful resource for anyone who practices Master Moy’s style of Tai Chi/LokHup. Hopefully the will to share knowledge and experience will benefit everyone, and not only keep the tradition alive, but grow it!

As for what I find beneficial from the regular practice of this gentle stretching exercise, it contributes to the preservation of my “back” health. Prior to learning this art, I would suffer from throwing my back out once or twice a year. In recent years, with the return of various in-person practice sessions, I am able to do Tai Chi three to six times a week. I can’t remember the last time that I couldn’t put on my own socks… 😉
