Tai Chi Health Benefit Themes: Circulation

When we practice tai chi, we promote improved circulation in our entire body.

Let’s visualize both sides of the heart. The right side receives blood from the body that is low in oxygen. This blood then travels to the lungs to replenish its oxygen supply. The left side of the heart is the receiver of this freshly oxygenated blood from the lungs. This new blood is finally pumped back into our body via the aorta, allowing our organs and muscles to continue to function normally.

The relaxed and continuous movements we perform in tai chi create waves of expansion and contraction that enhance this pumping action and aid in optimizing our blood flow both to and from the heart. This is one of the many health benefits we can experience as a result of our regular tai chi practice.
